Restoration of Oil Paintings, Works of Art on Paper, Photographsand Textiles

We have experts who can repair just about any damage, such as holes in oil paintings on canvas, a tear in an antique sampler, and water stains on an etching. After Hurricane Ike and the flood in April 2009, Bradley’s dealt with hundreds of wet, moldy diplomas, photos, and pieces of art. In many cases, damaged original photos or those fused to the glass will require digital restoration.

Tip: If you have a wet photograph either in a frame or in an album, place it in a freezer until you have time to remove it. The emulsion on a photograph will stick to the glass or the album page as it dries. Freezing will stop that process. When you remove the photo from the freezer, gently separate it from the glass or album before it dries.

The repair and restoration of frames may be as simple as touching up scratches or completely re-finishing the surface. We will secure the corners and replace missing ornaments. Finishes include gold and silver leaf, paint, and stains. Frames that need repair might be antique, gilded, carved, simple, or family heirlooms with sentimental value. We do have convex glass to fit ovals, circles, some rectangles, and specialized shapes like cathedral and boiler-maker.
